It is about this cupcake that is just plain vanilla who is made and is last to be eaten out of all the other fancy cupcakes. He goes through this journey to make him unique so he'll stand out too. I must have read this book 1000 times since we got it!
At the end of the book there is a delicious recipe for making plain vanilla cupcakes with butter cream frosting. One evening when I got home from work, we decided to try it. It was a bit of work to make cupcakes and frosting from scratch (which is not a regular thing from me. I am just fine with Betty Crocker's way)
The kids were such good helpers. I measured out the ingredients, and they poured it into the mixer.
They lined the cupcake pan with the liners.
While they baked they even did the dishes! No, they really did! This will be a whole different post though :)
After the dishes were done (well, the mixing bowl, spatula and wisk), we made the buttercream frosting from scratch.
Cupcakes are done!
Time to frost! They love to frost the cupcakes themselves.
