Where best friends are made

Chugging right along with the blog here...Its nice that summer has pretty much zero stresses (except maybe "What are the kids fighting about now?" and "What should we do today?").  One of the fun things we wanted to do with the kids during our 6 weeks of family fun is take the kids to Build-A-Bear for the very first time.  About a week before we visited the one in Downtown Disney, but didn't buy anything.  Allie had stars in her eyes, she was so cute. She didn't ask for anything, but her "ohhh, that is sooo ADORABLE" comments made us itch to go back.  They had a section full of Angry Birds (Ry's current obsession) and that was all he could pay attention to. It was bears-shcmears as far as he was concerned.
Fast forward a week... the plan was to head out the closest Sonic for lunch(by Ontario Mills) and since the mall was right there, we'd visit the Build-A-Bear store. But for real this time! Allie was so excited she kept reciting "Build-A-Bear...Where best friends are made!" all morning long. Ry just had his mind on those dang Angry Birds.  I reallly wanted him to have the experience of building his chosen animal and all of that, but it wasn't to be. One look at the pile of Angry Birds in the store and it was all he wanted. It was much cheaper too.  So we gave in after much "Are you sure? Are you sure?" talk.
Allie had her bear all picked out from when we visited the store at DTD.  The rainbow bear :) Here she is waiting her turn to stuff her bear.

Those ladies that work at that store are so cute with the kids. I love it! If you've been to the store, then I'm sure you know the whole deal, but for our memories I want to remember that when the told Allie to get the little heart for inside her bear (which she named Vanessa), she was all bout it! She had to shake the heart above her head so Vanessa wouldn't be afraid of heights. And shake down below so Vanessa wouldn't be afraid to get down and boogie. She had to shake it at her tummy so Vanessa would never go hungry and touch the heart to her nose so Vanessa always "knows" her (cute!), and touch to her heart so that she is always loved.  Then she had to kiss the heart and make a wish.  I wish I had videoed it but I was too busy watching her.  She was so into it.

After stuffing the bear, it was time to give it a bath. An air fluffing bath, that is :)

She picked out a dress for it.  She even picked out matching shoes. The plan was to only let her get a dress, but because her Daddy is wrapped so tightly around her little finger, she got the shoes as well :)  Then it was off to the computer station to name and register her bear.  She even got a little cardboard house, six little hairbows and a free beach towel (the towel was for her)!

Ryan didn't get to do any of the stuff that Allie did even though I really wanted him to. It was his choice though. He was stinkin' happy with his little choice too.  I wonder if his Angry Birds obsession will make it to his birthday? We'll have to see!
