Yet at the same time, life is uneventful in a total good way.
It's like... what should I blog about? Nothing's really happening in the Schafer household (though it's far from quiet!)
I guess I could talk about my kids. I love talking about them! :)
My babies are doing excellent. I feel like I know just what I'm doing when it comes to Ryan, because I just went through all this baby stuff. Allie, on the other hand, is testing my abilities as a parent. She's got an amazingly strong, independent personality. You can tell she got more than just her looks from her Daddy. We are having a little problem with the eating situation. She's just so darn picky. Most the time she won't even taste the food she used to love...or as soon as it touches her tongue it immediatly gets rejected. Oy vay, I just don't get it. I did recently figure out that she wants to feed herself. If anyone tried to feed her she shakes her head and squints her eyes while saying, 'no, no, no, no' over and over again. So she's Miss Independent right now.
In the same sense, I'm just loving this independent stage. She's so full of personality and now talking so much. Just about a month ago she started speaking if full phrases and short sentences. It was shocking how fast that happened. There was a plethera of birthdays in my family around Christmas and New Years. Now Allie's favorite phrase is 'Happy Day You!" She says it all day everyday... even in the grocery store! She understands every thing we say, every question, every command and she responds everytime! I don't know if I'm just weird but that just astounds me that she can do that now. She was just a baby a few months ago! Now she's talking, and bossing me around (well, when I let her :)).
As for Ryan, he's 4 (count them) 4 months old! Can you believe it? I feel like I'm so busy with the both of them that time just flies right by. This time around I'm praying for the time to slow down a little so I can enjoy my very last baby. I can't believe that I just had to pack away clothes that he's grown out of. Already? Actually, I was even a little late on that one.
He just started eating rice cereal a few days after Christmas. He loved it! and then today, he had his first baby food: green beans! He ate them just fine, but it was like he didn't even notice that he was trying something new. Mostly because his sister was playing with the fridge magnets behind him and that is all he wanted to look at. When Allie is in the room, he is so absorbed in watching whatever she's doing that no one else exists in the world. He also seems to be very attatched to me. More so than Allie ever was or is now. She is such a Daddy's girl and Jason is just crazy about her. Ryan gets so excited when he spots me if I'm not holding him, he looks like he's gonna fly away cause his arms are flapping so fast! And if I don't get to him fast enough or I walk out of the room...pssh....hold on to your eardrums! I love it though. I used to cry because Allie wanted her Daddy all the time and not me. I got my little man to be my mama'a boy. And in the same sense that Allie is just like her Daddy in temperment, Ryan is JUST LIKE me. Right down to how I acted as a baby. My mother says that I slept all night, every night but I NEVER took a nap. NEVER. (I actually remember having to 'take a nap' as a toddler and NEVER sleeping and being bored out of my mind.) Ryan is the exact same way. He rarely takes a nap during the day, though I try and try all day, it's always in vain. BUT I am so thankful that he sleeps through the night. 10 hours straight every night, I can set my watch by it. Since Allie sleeps through the night as well, I'm on every tired mom's hate list.
I'm going to leave you here with this sweet picture Jason took today when Ryan had his first taste of green beans. Allie just had to give her 'Nyan' a kiss and of course Ryan loves that! He adores his big sissy! I hope it stays that way always....
