It just doesn’t get any sweeter than my sugar and spice

Allie is growing up so very fast.  Today I was going through her old baby clothes to see if there was anything I wanted to keep for her memory box.  Seeing all those little outfits made me tear up just a little. If they could just stay little just a little while longer…long enough for me to take a breath and really, really enjoy it.  On the other hand, watching Allie grow, having conversations (actual conversations!) is sooo much fun!

My New Favorite Things…now that your 2 years old and all:

  1. Your cute little sayings that you repeat over and over and over again.  I want to video them all and write them all down.  They are just so darn cute, I don’t want to ever forget them.
  2. Your curly hair and how you LOVE to have me do it.  Piggy tails, lil piggies, pony tail, curly and wild, fancy ponytail…the sky is the limit.  You calmly sit on the sink and brush your teeth and talk to me while I do your hair.  It’s our girl time. :)
  3. The way you play with and include your brother.  I never thought I’d finally see the day where your brother is was more than just a piece of furniture in the room.  You now play this game that only you 2 really know about, but it involves you screaming, “Ryan, Ryan, Ryan!!” at the top of your lungs while he crawls as fast as he can towards you and then you both collapse on the ground laughing hysterically.  Then it starts all over again.  It makes your mommy soo happy to see her little ones enjoying each others company like that, because believe me, you’ll be each others only company for years and years to come.
  4. The way you like to help…throw things in the “shash” (trash) for mommy or daddy…. clean the floor under your chair after you’ve eaten  (Ohhhh maaaan! It’s a mess!)… give your brother his binky…turn on/off the lights/TV/dishwasher whether or not we ask you too.
  5. Playing hide and seek.  You only want to be the one seeking and never want to hide.  You are absolutely delighted when mommy or daddy jumps out and says, BOO!
  6. When you play with mommy’s hair.  I could let you do my hair all day long! It feels so nice and you are oh so gentle…just like mommy taught you to be!
  7. Shopping with you.  You love to go shopping with me…especially the grocery store.  I hope it is always this way.  I love how you talk to me constantly and if Daddy and Ryan go with us how you only want me to push you in the basket. My favorite part is how you want to hold everything in the cart and you end up being buried in stuff.
  8. Your sweet, polite nature that mommy has been working very hard at.  Now you say HI to every stranger that passes.  That worries me a little, but my mother tells me that I used to do the EXACT same thing. You are always saying, “I’m sorry” if you do something on accident…even if mommy or daddy are not mad…you are always ‘fessing up.  :) Pease, tank ooo, cuse and welcome are a huge part of your vocabulary.
  9. How incredibly smart you are.  I have Kindergartners that aren’t even half as advanced as you are.  You recognize and name all letters of the alphabet, recognize numbers to 12 (thanks to the clock in the kitchen), count to 20, sing ABC’s and Wheels on the Bus, name animals and their sounds, your name:first and last, plus age.  You never cease to amaze me, kid. oh yes, and the other day, while doing your hair you proudly told me that you had 2 ears, 2 eyes and 1 mouth.  Simply brilliant! Then you proceeded to tell me that you were so happy…I just LOVE that. Because that’s what you make me, Allie Boo…sooo happy!

such a sweeet, beautiful tribute to your growing baby girl. She is so precious! It's so hard to watch them get older and grow more independent! (at least you still get your "baby" moments with Ryan!!)

You are such a wonderful mama!
