We've always gone to Disneyland during the day, never had taken in the kids at night time (they would never make it in an all day/night situation. They'd lose their minds by sun down). Since we had a Monday off (though I can't remember why) we decided a Monday evening would be the perfect time to make a special night time trip to Disneyland to see it all lit up for Christmas. We started out by leaving home around 3. By the time we made all the necessary stops, got to Disney, parked. loaded up everything and bundled everyone (you can't tell bu but the kids are wearing 2 pairs of pants each!) it was 4:30. The parade was scheduled to start at 5. When we got inside everyone was seated all over Main street already! We got lucky though and found an empty spot across from the fire station. We got out some lolipops and waited. Right when we sat down there was an announcement that the tree lighting ceremony was about to begin, what a sight! That almost made me cry (um, I cry at the National Anthem...Disneyland announcements have the same effect!). The tree was right behind us too, so to see all that we saw, for as crowded as it was, was amazingly lucky. Once the parade music started (but we couldn't see it yet) Ryan and Allie just started dancing with their big lollies sticking out of their mouths! Ah-dor-able! Here is the video I got of it on my phone. Sorry for the graininess.
After the parade ended, we went straight to "Small World" to see it all lit up. As we were walking there it started "snowing"! The best part was we were next to a snow machine where there were no people crowded around it. It was all to ourselves. The kids were simply in awe of that. I couldn't believe the luck we were having! When we got in line for "Small World" we got to see the show they play on the building and then when our boat exited the building at the end of the ride was when the fireworks started! Can you believe that they stopped the boats to let the last ones see the fireworks from the boats?!?! We had front row seats! What luck!
