A Pinterest Inspired Valentine :)

Don't you just LOVE Pinterest??? Gosh, I sure do! I can't get enough. Whenever I have a project or idea in my head, I consult Pinterest and always find something better. So this time my project was Valentines for my Kindergartners.  I am sure you have seen this awesome project floating around Pinterest.  During my 3 day weekend before V-Day, the kids and I made a craft of it as a team.  The only thing I needed to buy was the silicone molds.

Oh lawd, the molds! I went every.WHERE. No joke! You go ahead and name it, I went there.  If the store had heart molds the day before,  they did not have them when I went.  Finally, I settled on these flower shaped molds I found at Micheals.
I had these crayons left over from last years class that I intended to use for centers, but didn't. I found the idea on Pinterest sometime around October so I just saved them with the intention of using them for this project.
I showed the kids this project and they were all for helping and I offered them a crayon or 2 of their own when we finished.  We each had our own jobs. Ryan's job was to peel the crayons.
He was so good at it. He even made himself a 'trash bowl'.  ah, LOVE this kid! A 'trash bowl'?! Seriously?!?!
Once peeled, he put them in a bowl while I worked on chopping.  Have you ever chopped crayons? Dang. It's work!

And my poor cutting board is now rainbow colored. Not even the dishwasher could get it out of the nooks and crannies. Wah.
Allie's job was to sort. She made sure to that each flower had only 2-3 of each color inside.  My little sorter-she's ready for Kindergarten!

We set them for 230 for 15 minutes.  I think we may have had too many crayons in the flowers and ended up having to add more time. I think by the 3rd batch I even up the temp to 250 and put the trays on the bottom rack of the over. Once that was done, 15 minutes was perfect.
Putting the tray in the freezer is my recommendation.   It makes it super easy to pop out.
I love the way they turned out!
I even made my own labels. This is the front:

And I figured that I am mainly writing this blog for my kids and there are no pictures of me, their mom. So here I am. And there is the dirty mirror. Hi! I am always the one behind the camera lens capturing the memories, and rarely in the pictures. That is usually the case with all mommies though, right? I need to make it point to take pictures with me in them.
